Precision Fermentation

We use microorganisms to manufacture lactoferrin — a dairy-based functional ingredient that can enhance everyday food products and much more.

Our scientists isolate the genetic sequence for lactoferrin and select the appropriate microbes as hosts for the DNA insertion.

Identify & Code

The microbes are placed in fermentation vessels and supplied with nutrients, directing them to produce the target ingredient.

Grow & Produce

We separate the produced ingredient from the microbial cells and conduct rigorous safety validation.

Purify & Inspect

Partners receive the purified ingredient — LF+ — for incorporation into their products.

Cellular Agriculture

Our cellular agriculture platform aims to produce cell-derived dairy proteins, complex carbohydrates, and eventually complete milk — while reducing environmental impact.

Obtaining

Mammary gland cells are harvested from various sources, including existing milk supplies.

Multiplying

Cells are expanded in growth media, then transferred to our proprietary lactation media that simulates conditions within living mammals.

Creating

The cells convert lactation media into milk products, enabling production of naturally occurring milk ingredients.
